Bob was born in 1923 in Monticello, IA, the son of John and Agnes Liddy. He married Jane Davenport on August 23, 1947.

After graduating from Monticello High as an outstanding athlete, he attended the University of Iowa where ultimately he attained a Master’s Degree. Later he moved to Fairfield, IA as a head football and basketball coach. Then on to Coe College and Kansas State as a line coach, returning to Davenport when West High opened in 1960. He served as Head football coach until being named Principal in 1967 for 15 years. He rounded out his career as AD of the Davenport School District, retiring in 1986.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jane and children, Jalayne (Mrs. R. Kent Riewerts), Janifer (Mrs. Ronald Ruhl), The Very Reverend Jeffrey Liddy, seven very loved grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
