BETTENDORF -- Dee Rasmussen, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at her home.
Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 17, at Grandview Baptist Church, 4316 North Ripley Street, Davenport. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday, January 16, at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.
Interment will be in Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made toward an education fund for her daughters.
Dee was born January 15, 1961, in Davenport, Iowa, to Wayne and Ruth (Long) Kroeger. She married Dick Rasmussen on February 21, 1987, in Davenport. Dee graduated with the class of '79 from Davenport West. She worked for Jewel Food stores for 21 years, 20 of those as a bakery manager. She was a member of Adventure Christian Community Church, Davenport, and baked bread and muffins for the church cafe. She was also a nursery helper at the church. She loved crafting, garage sales, her gardens, swimming, playing cards, spending time with her close friends, her Bible study group and her women's accountability group. Most of all she loved helping other cancer patients to be educated and comfortable, and spending time with her family, especially her two wonderful daughters, Bailie and Madison. Sam and Elliott will miss their mommy (woof!). Survivors include her husband, Dick, and daughters, Bailie and Madison, all of Bettendorf; mother, Ruth Kroeger, of Bettendorf; sisters, Pam (Randy) Schumacher, of Davenport and Dr. Angela (Howard) Penrod, of Bettendorf; brother, Jeffrey Kroeger, of Davenport; and Sam and Elliott (“the boys”). She was preceded in death by her father. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Costas Constantinou and his wonderful staff for the great compassion, care and quality of life given to Dee, which helped us all cope. We would also like to thank Trinity Hospice Nurse Mary Gwinner for her great care and attention to Dee's final days.
