DAVENPORT — Funeral services to celebrate the life of Edward J. “Eddy” McAllister, 49, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, in the All Faith Chapel at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 4 until 7 p.m.

Eddy died suddenly and unexpectedly after suffering an apparent heart attack on Monday, November 16, 2009, at his residence in Davenport.

Edward Joseph McAllister was born January 24, 1960, in Davenport, a son of David and Wilda (Lee) McAllister.

He was a graduate of Davenport West High School. Eddy was employed most recently as a chef for the Isle of Capri. He had also been a part-time employee of Ross Medical Supply for 15 years. He had also worked for the former Sammi Kay’s Gifts in the Village of East Davenport. In earlier years he had been a security officer for Nichols Aluminum for 25 years.

He had been active in Scouting in earlier years and was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was honored to have earned the Eagle Scout Award, and was comforted by the camaraderie of Scouting.

Eddy was a proud to have been a member of the West End Alano Club. In January 2010 he would have celebrated 32 years of sobriety. He was active in the AA community. He had also been a member of the Native American Coalition of the Quad Cities. He very much enjoyed attending Pow Wows.

He was a talented washboard player, and had performed with Hawkeye Herman and Cool Papa, which were highlights of his life. Eddy was also a member of the Quad City Clown Troupe and was known as Humphrey the Clown.

Memorials can be made to the family for a future memorial to be selected to honor his memory.

Survivors include his mother, Wilda, Davenport; several aunts, uncles and loving cousins; as well as numerous good friends who know who they are.

He was preceded in death by his father, David, on April 20, 1963, and an infant brother, Mark McAllister. May they rest in peace.
