1960-10-19 2022-01-07
Kinda difficult to describe a man such as Jeffrey Alan Baker. He spent his life in companionship with mankind, engaging folks where ever he was.
Jeff died at home in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the age of 61. He was an attorney at Dentons Davis Brown. Jeff split his time between homes in Des Moines and St. Louis Park, Minnesota in the company of his life partner of 23 years, Scott Edward Boemer.
Born October 19, 1960 in Davenport, Iowa to Allen Forrest & Jacqueline Elaine (Timmerman) Baker he attended school in Davenport, graduating from West High School in 1979. Jeff graduated from Winona State University in 1983, and Drake University Law School in 1989. He has practiced law in Iowa since 1989 with an emphasis in workman’s compensation law.
Jeff has received many accolades in his life. He considered himself a simple man with complex interests. Informal wear, including Hawkeye shirts and CAP, was his uniform de rigueur. When he and Scott frequented their favorite pubs the Hawkeye cap never came off. Jeff & Scott traveled extensively, never tiring of new places and people. Jeff always had a smile on his face and said what was on his mind.
Survivors include life partner, Scott Boemer; brothers, Gary (Marlene) Baker, Shawn Baker, and Bruce Baker; sisters, Sherry Daurer, and Lisa Diaz; six nephews and five nieces.

The family will greet friends from noon till 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 21, 2022 at Dunn’s Chapel, 2121 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50312. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 P.M. with cremation to follow.
Jeff’s favorite quote: “Life Is Not a Destination but a Journey”. Boy did he live it.
